The last time we checked in on the Madame Web streaming saga, this disappointing superhero film was somehow managing to hold onto the third spot on Max, despite its lackluster performance in theaters and on Netflix.
Current Streaming Status
It’s baffling that Madame Web managed to climb so high on the streaming charts, especially given its negative reception and poor execution. But the film’s unremarkable 116 minutes of dreariness didn’t deter some viewers from keeping it afloat, and it even climbed to second place in the worldwide Max movie rankings recently. It’s a puzzling testament to some questionable viewing habits.
The New Challenger
Fortunately, a new contender has emerged to challenge Madame Web’s unwelcome dominance. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a surprisingly thrilling addition to the Monsterverse franchise, has been making waves on Max. Its swift rise to the top of the streaming charts has pushed Madame Web back down to third place, where it belongs.
Current Rankings
According to FlixPatrol, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has taken a commanding lead in the worldwide film rankings on Max, leaving Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre in a distant second place. Meanwhile, Madame Web has once again secured its position as the unwanted third-place contender.
Looking Ahead
While it’s encouraging to see Madame Web slip back down the rankings, it still has a ways to go before it drops out of the Top 10 completely. Without the boost from Fifty Shades of Grey or similar hits, it will take a lot more than just giant monsters fighting to push Madame Web out of the spotlight for good.
Here’s hoping that with continued support for better content, we’ll see a brighter, Ezekiel Sims-free future on the streaming charts.
