In an interview with CNN, billionaire Bill Gates spoke on the problems with the testing of Coronavirus in the United States.
According to Mr Gates, not only is the testing slow, but it is also unfair in terms of access and availability.
He said, “You’re paying billions of dollars in this very inequitable way to get the most worthless test results of any country in the world. No other country has this testing insanity.”
He also said that people from lower socio-economic backgrounds are paying the same amount for both timely and delayed testing while the rich can jump around logistical hoops to get tested more effectively.
He largely attributes the inefficiency to the USA’s political atmosphere, “it’s mind-blowing that you can’t get the government to improve the testing because they just want to say how great it is.”
