Kolkata airport disallows flights from Delhi, Mumbai and four other cities to land. With a significant surge in cases of the Novel Corona Virus everyday. Hence, Kolkata airport announced on Saturday that it will not allow passenger flights. From 6 cities to land. The flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Nagpur and Ahmedabad will be restricted to land between July 6 to 19.

The move was taken by the Kolkata government after the May 25 order of the government of India to resume flight operations which were put on halt due to the COVID-19 lock down. 

In a letter written to the center by the Chief Minister of West Bengal earlier, she had requested for the flights operations to be put on hold again due to the rise in cases, says News18.com. The airport director has also made a statement saying that the restriction was imposed on the order of the state government. 

Runways Closed For COVID-19

The inconvenience was regretted by the authorities in a twitter announcement. Which stated that the incoming flights from the six aforementioned cities would not be allowed to land. At the Kolkata airport. Moreover, it also stated that the timeline was. This ban would be July 6 to 19 or till further order, whichever is earlier.
