An engagement between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s highly volatile Shopian area resulted in the deaths of two Army personnel and a terrorist. Terrorists and security forces clashed in Chermarg hamlet in the Zainapora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir.
The incident began near Chermarg, Zainapora district of Shopian, according to the Kashmir Zone police. Police and security personnel have been dispatched to the scene. The security officers also killed one terrorist. Officials say the identity of the murdered ultra is being determined.
According to a police officer in charge of the operation, “On specific information regarding the presence of terrorists in the region, a joint team of police, army, and CRPF conducted a cordon and search operation in Chermarg hamlet. The operation began in the early morning hours.”
He explained, “As the joint search party cordoned off the probable location, an exchange of fire occurred, and a confrontation ensued.” Santosh Yadav and Chavan Romit Tanaji, both from 1 Rashtriya Rifles, are among the killed armed forces members, according to Kashmir Zone Police (RR).
