Netflix is set to release its new animated film In Your Dreams on November 14, 2025. The story follows siblings Stevie and Elliot, who discover the Sandman—a mythical figure living in everyone’s dreams who has the power to grant their deepest wish: the perfect family.

A big part of the movie takes place in the dream world, including one of its most creative locations, Breakfast Town. As the name suggests, it’s a town where every single resident is made out of breakfast food. Think croissants walking around, donuts getting sprinkles put on them, eggs filling the streets, and fruits showing off stickers like they’re tickets.

Production designer Steve Pilcher explained that the idea came from asking a simple question: if a child wanted to build a little French town out of things they had lying around, what would they use? From there, the team designed a playful yet believable dream space where food feels alive. But the dreams don’t stay sweet forever. When nightmares hit, the world shifts. A mold sweeps across the town like a storm, turning the cheerful breakfast world into something darker and twisted. VFX Supervisor Nicola Lavender shared that they even built a special system to make the mold grow over buildings and characters to bring that transformation to life.

Interestingly, at one point the castle walls were made of waffles, but the idea was scrapped. Pilcher joked that it felt like making houses out of people. Instead, the team leaned heavily on eggs to quickly populate the bustling town since they’re simple shapes with lots of variety.

And it doesn’t stop at Breakfast Town. There’s also the Broccoli Forest, a clever nod to the vegetable most kids dread. While it used to have a bigger role in the story, it now appears mainly as background detail.

In Your Dreams promises a mix of humor, wonder, and darker turns as Stevie and Elliot journey through these dreamscapes to find the Sandman. With so many creative details packed into every scene, Netflix looks like it has another animated gem on the way.
