Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, two of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, have only appeared together once, back in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire. However, Brad Pitt has recently expressed interest in teaming up with Cruise again, but he’s set one condition.

In an interview with E! News while promoting his upcoming racing film F1, Pitt shared that he’d be open to working with Cruise, just not if it involves the kind of extreme stunts Cruise is famous for. Specifically, Pitt joked that he’d only sign on “if the stunts are on the ground.”

Tom Cruise is well-known for doing many of his own dangerous stunts, especially in the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun franchises. His reputation for pushing physical limits was further cemented when he earned a Guinness World Record for performing 16 flaming parachute jumps during the filming of Mission: Impossible 8.

While both actors remain at the top of their game, it seems Pitt is happy to let Cruise take the high-flying risks; he’ll keep things a bit more grounded.

Brad Pitt jokes about not wanting to hang from airplanes with Tom Cruise

During a recent interview, Wolfs star Brad Pitt lightheartedly shared why he’s hesitant about working with Tom Cruise again, especially when it comes to Cruise’s extreme stunt style. When asked about the possibility of collaborating with Cruise, Pitt joked, “Well, I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that,” making it clear he’s not signing up for any mid-air thrill rides.

He added with a grin that he’d be open to teaming up again, “when he [Tom] does something on the ground, then yes”

Pitt’s upcoming film F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is drawing buzz, especially since both creatives previously worked with Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick. Kosinski revealed that F1 was in early development around the time Top Gun: Maverick was wrapping up. He had even hoped to cast both Pitt and Cruise together in Ford v Ferrari, but the budget didn’t get studio approval. That film eventually went to Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

Reflecting on what might’ve been, Kosinski shared in an interview with GQ that both Pitt and Cruise are naturally gifted drivers. However, he admitted Cruise’s daredevil nature might’ve made the crew a bit more nervous, saying:

“Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled.”

While Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning continues to perform well in theatres, Pitt’s F1 is all set to hit the big screen on June 27.
