To say that we are happy to have Chicken Run back would be the understatement of the century. A feathered fiesta will be held in our offices on the day of its release, replete with horrible Northern English accents (even from our Northern English team).
As one of the finest animated films of the 2000s and maybe the pinnacle of Aardman’s career as an animation studio, Chicken Run played a significant role in all of our childhoods. With the release of Chicken Run 2 later in 2023, Netflix will begin to capitalise on all of this nostalgia with new films.
Will one of the greatest cinematic villains ever make a comeback along with that return, though? Does Mrs. Tweedy appear in Chicken Run 2? We’ve always assumed she’s still alive and well, somewhere, with a ravenous appetite for beheading chickens, and now we could find out thanks to one of the finest films of the year. Perfection.
Is Mrs. Tweedy in Chicken Run 2?
The most recent trailer confirms Mrs. Tweedy’s return for Chicken Run 2, as she makes a spectacular and befittingly evil entrance.
Before seeing this trailer, we didn’t know a whole lot about the Chicken Run 2 story, and we still don’t. But we do know that one of our favourite birds will be up against an old enemy.
We discovered that this time, in order to protect chickenkind from a serious threat, the plot will centre on the chickens breaking into a farm as opposed to out of one. Then, in the closing seconds, Ginger notices an enigmatic woman who is later identified as Mrs. Tweedy.
“Now you’ve had the appetizer, time for the main course,” Mrs Tweedy says ominously before adding: “Welcome to the future”.

We are overjoyed to see Mrs. Tweedy again, especially since she has haunted our nightmares for the past 20 years. It’s inevitable that you’ll have an effect on the young people who grew up during the 2000s if you’re the major antagonist of one of the finest films of the decade.
