Buying interest was seen in select heavyweight stocks, supporting the broader indices despite mixed trends in Bank Nifty and midcap indices.
Among Nifty 50 constituents, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles emerged as the top gainer, with the stock advancing 3.7% in midday trade. The move placed the stock firmly at the top of the index gainers’ list during the session.
Tata Consumer Products followed, trading 3.2% higher. The stock showed steady upward momentum as it outperformed several other consumer-facing names in the index.
Shares of Power Grid Corporation were up 2.8% at midday. The stock contributed positively to index movement, supported by buying interest in power and infrastructure-linked counters.
Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro gained 2.5%, while Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone also rose 2.5%, placing both stocks among the stronger performers on the benchmark index.
Paint major Asian Paints was trading 2.1% higher, matching the gains seen in Reliance Industries, which also advanced 2.1% in midday dealings.
FMCG heavyweight Nestle India added 1.6%, while Adani Enterprises rose 1.2%.
Insurance stock SBI Life Insurance rounded out the list of top gainers, trading 1.1% higher during the session.
