Gold and silver prices surged to fresh record levels in the domestic market on Tuesday, tracking strong global cues and sustained demand for safe-haven assets amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
Both precious metals have posted sharp gains in recent sessions, with silver significantly outperforming gold so far this year. Prices across futures markets and major Indian cities are now at historic highs, prompting investors and jewellery buyers to closely track daily rate movements.
Gold and silver at all-time highs
According to the latest bullion rates, gold is trading at around Rs 1,59,070 per 10 grams, up Rs 2,330 or 1.49%. Silver is priced at approximately Rs 3,55,740 per kg, higher by Rs 20,230 or 6.03%.
Silver has already gained more than 50% so far this year, reflecting far stronger momentum compared to gold.
Global cues supporting the rally
Gold prices remained firm in international markets as well. Spot gold rose about 1.1% to nearly $5,068 per ounce, after touching a record high of $5,110.50 in the previous session. US gold futures for February delivery were up around 0.4% at $5,063 per ounce.
Market participants continue to shift toward safe assets amid global uncertainty. Silver prices have also stayed close to all-time highs overseas, providing strong support to the sharp rally seen in Indian futures.
