SpiceJet has announced the launch of new non-stop international flights connecting Ahmedabad with Sharjah, starting February 5, 2026. This move marks a significant expansion of the airline’s international network and further strengthens air connectivity between India and the United Arab Emirates.
With the addition of Sharjah, SpiceJet now connects to its second destination in the UAE after Dubai. The new Ahmedabad–Sharjah service will operate five days a week, remaining suspended only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, offering travellers enhanced flexibility and convenient scheduling for Middle East travel.
Ahmedabad plays a crucial role as a major economic and cultural centre in western India, with deep-rooted trade, tourism, and diaspora ties to the UAE. The launch of direct flights to Sharjah is expected to cater to increasing demand from business travellers, leisure tourists, and the large Indian expatriate community residing in the region. The route is also expected to support growing bilateral movement linked to commerce, education, and cultural exchange.
Commenting on the launch, Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, highlighted Sharjah’s strategic importance within the region. He noted that Sharjah’s status as the cultural capital of the UAE and its role as a key regional hub make it a valuable addition to the airline’s expanding international network. The new service reflects sustained growth in travel demand between India and the UAE, reinforcing SpiceJet’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.
Sharjah, the third-largest emirate in the UAE, is uniquely positioned as the only emirate sharing borders with all six others. Known for its strong emphasis on culture and heritage, Sharjah offers visitors a diverse mix of museums, mosques, heritage areas, and archaeological sites. Its east coast features historical locations dating back to the second millennium BCE, making it an attractive destination for both cultural tourism and leisure travel.
