Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Mobile Congress 2025 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, highlighting India’s growing leadership in digital connectivity and semiconductor manufacturing.
In his address, PM Modi announced that work is underway on 10 semiconductor manufacturing units across the country, underscoring India’s push for self-reliance in chip production. He said, “We need to see where the challenges are in the global supply chain. Any bottleneck is an opportunity for India to resolve.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that India can become a global data hub, as the world increasingly generates and depends on vast amounts of data. “Storage, security, and sovereignty of data will be critical — and India can lead this transformation,” he added.
PM Modi also inaugurated India’s homegrown 4G stack, calling it a key milestone for indigenous innovation. He noted that with over 1 lakh towers deployed, the Made-in-India 4G stack has caught global attention and is ready for export.
He stressed that digital connectivity is not a privilege or luxury, but a fundamental necessity in modern India. “From manufacturing to semiconductors, from mobiles to electronics, we have immense opportunities and the energy to realize them,” Modi said, urging global investors to “invest, innovate, and make in India.”
Reflecting on India’s digital progress, PM Modi also reiterated his government’s commitment to reforms:
“I had announced from the ramparts of Red Fort that this is the year of big reforms — and we are increasing the pace of reforms.”
He also credited India’s democratic setup, ease of doing business, and investor-friendly environment for making the country a global technology and innovation hub.
