Air India has officially confirmed that flight AI171, operating on the Ahmedabad–London Gatwick route, was involved in an incident on June 12, 2025. In a statement issued on its official X handle, the airline said it is currently ascertaining the details of the incident and will share further updates as soon as possible.

“At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on airindia.com and on our X handle,” said an Air India spokesperson.

The confirmation comes hours after reports emerged of a crash near the Meghani Nagar area, close to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The flight was reportedly a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 242 passengers on board.

Rescue operations are underway, and emergency services have reached the site. Authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties or the nature of the incident.
