GE Power India Limited has announced an expansion in its existing contract with GREENKO KA01 IREP Pvt. Ltd. for the Saundatti Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Belagavi, Karnataka.
This development follows the initial contract awarded in April 2022, valued at INR 8,634 million (~USD 113 million), for the design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply of electro-mechanical equipment for 1280 MW Vertical Francis Pump Turbine Fixed Speed Machines.
With the latest scope addition, an extra 320 MW unit will be integrated into the project. The revised contract includes engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply, installation, and testing of electro-mechanical equipment for the additional unit. The contract, valued at INR 2,735 million (exclusive of taxes), is set for execution by November 22, 2027.
This order is a part of GE Power India’s Hydro Business, and it aligns with the business transfer agreement between the company and GE Vernova Hydro Power India Private Limited. As India continues to prioritize renewable energy, GE Power India’s contribution to pumped storage solutions underscores its commitment to advancing sustainable power infrastructure.
