Asian stock markets traded largely in positive territory on May 25, with Japan’s Nikkei and Taiwan equities emerging as top gainers during early trade as of 8 AM IST.

Japan’s Nikkei index surged 2.88% to 65,164.13, marking one of the strongest performances among major Asian markets. Taiwan markets also rallied sharply, with the Taiwan index climbing 3.1% to 43,579.09.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (HSI) advanced 0.86% to 25,606.03, while Australia’s ASX 200 rose 0.62% to 8,710.6 during early market activity.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite gained 0.56% to 4,135.748, and the Shenzhen index moved up 0.41% to 15,661.451. South Korea’s KOSPI also traded higher by 0.41% at 7,847.71.

Singapore’s STI index added 0.56% to reach 5,096.48, while New Zealand’s NZX 50 edged 0.22% higher to 13,019.29.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s benchmark index was the only major Asian market trading in the red, slipping 0.35% to 1,706.76.
