President Donald Trump has once again taken to Truth Social to address ongoing negotiations with Iran, drawing a sharp contrast with the 2015 Obama-era nuclear deal. In his latest post, Trump assured supporters that any agreement he reaches will prioritize American interests and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Trump’s Full Truth Social Statement:
“Any deal I make with Iran will be a good and proper one, unlike Obama’s, which gave Iran huge sums of cash and a clear path to a nuclear weapon — my deal is the exact opposite, but it isn’t fully negotiated yet, so don’t listen to critics who know nothing about it; I don’t make bad deals.”
Trump’s message comes at a critical time as indirect or direct talks between the United States and Iran continue regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. The former and current President has long criticized the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Obama Iran Nuclear Deal, arguing it provided Iran with billions in sanctions relief while failing to permanently dismantle its nuclear ambitions.
Trump’s Track Record on Deals
Trump frequently reminds supporters of his business and presidential negotiating style. His famous line — “I don’t make bad deals” — echoes his approach in previous trade deals (USMCA), the Abraham Accords, and pressure campaigns against China and NATO allies.
