Aamir Khan Productions issued an official statement following the snub of Laapataa Ladies from the Oscars 2025 shortlist for Best International Feature Film. The Film Federation of India’s decision to bypass Kiran Rao’s film has sparked significant backlash among cinephiles.

In a statement, Aamir Khan Productions expressed disappointment but maintained a tone of gratitude. “Laapataa Ladies (Lost Ladies) did not make it to the Academy Awards shortlist this year, and we are of course disappointed, but equally we are immensely grateful for the incredible support and belief we’ve received throughout this journey,” read the statement.

The statement further thanked their audience all over the globe for showing so much love towards their film. It concluded saying, “For us, this is not the end but a step forward. We remain committed to bringing more powerful stories to life and sharing them with the world.”

This exclusion has indeed brought Payal Kapadia’s Cannes- winning film, All We Imagine As Light, back to limelight, as many believed that the movie was the strongest contender for being nominated at Oscars 2025.
