Top gainers in the metal sector
Coal India was the standout performer among metal-related stocks in early trade. On the BSE, it rose 4.20% to ₹471.90; on the NSE, it gained 3.98% to ₹470.50.
MOIL advanced 2.98% on both exchanges, trading at ₹333.85 (BSE) and ₹333.80 (NSE).
Jain Resource Recycling Ltd. gained 2.88% on NSE to ₹431.95 and 2.14% on BSE to ₹428.95.
SAIL traded at ₹188.15 on BSE, up 2.17%, and at ₹187.81 on NSE, up 1.96%.
Tata Steel rose 2.06% on BSE to ₹217.90 and 2.22% on NSE to ₹218.00.
JSW Steel gained 1.71% on BSE and 1.74% on NSE, both at ₹1,305.00.
Hindalco moved up 1.10% on BSE to ₹1,073.60 and 1.24% on NSE to ₹1,075.00.
NMDC was up 1.29% on BSE at ₹91.59 and 1.25% on NSE at ₹91.55.
Jindal Steel & Power added 0.88% on BSE to ₹1,289.00 and 0.77% on NSE to ₹1,288.10.
Welspun Corp gained 1.04% on BSE to ₹1,223.95 and 0.90% on NSE to ₹1,223.35.
Modest gainers
NALCO was up a marginal 0.44% on BSE at ₹443.35 and 0.34% on NSE at ₹442.50.
Maithan Alloys rose 0.48% on BSE to ₹1,004.35 and 0.45% on NSE to ₹1,005.00.
APL Apollo Tubes edged up 0.21% on BSE to ₹1,993.00 and 0.30% on NSE to ₹1,993.60.
Vedanta was nearly flat, gaining 0.01% on BSE to ₹742.65, while slipping 0.12% on NSE to ₹741.60.
Decliner
Hindustan Zinc was the only stock in the list to trade in negative territory. It fell 0.41% on BSE to ₹625.35 and 0.32% on NSE to ₹626.00.
