Ola Electric, India’s largest pure-play electric vehicle (EV) company, has unveiled its latest line of electric scooters—Ola Gig and Ola S1 Z, aimed at revolutionizing access to electric mobility. Starting at just ₹39,999, the new models cater to a broad spectrum of users, from gig workers and students to business owners and elderly riders. Reservations are open for ₹499, with deliveries slated for April and May 2025.

New launches at a glance:

  1. Ola Gig: Priced at ₹39,999, this scooter is tailored for short trips, featuring a 112 km range, a removable 1.5 kWh battery, and a top speed of 25 mph.
  2. Ola Gig+: Starting at ₹49,999, it supports longer rides with a dual battery option (81–157 km range) and a top speed of 45 mph ideal for gig workers with heavier payloads.
  3. Ola S1 Z: Designed for urban commuters, it offers a sleek, easy-to-handle ride with a dual-battery range of up to 146 km, a top speed of 70 kmmphand an introductory price of ₹59,999.
  4. Ola S1 Z+: At ₹64,999, this dual-use scooter is perfect for personal and commercial applications, boasting ruggedness, high payload capacity, and versatile storage.

Additionally, Ola introduced the PowerPod, an invinverter powered by its portable battery, for ₹9,999. This innovation allows users to run essential household appliances during power outages, supporting semi-urban and rural users with limited electricity access.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman & Managing Director, of Ola Electric, highlighted the company’s mission to make EVs accessible nationwide. “The Gig and S1 Z range will accelerate EV adoption by addressing diverse use cases while focusing on affordability, reliability, and safety,” he said. Aggarwal also noted the portable batteries’ dual-use capability with the PowerPod, underlining Ola’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

A growing portfolio for varied needs
The Gig and S1 Z models add to Ola’s existing S1 series, which includes premium offerings like the S1 Pro (₹1,34,999) and budget-friendly options such as the S1 X portfolio (₹74,999–₹1,01,999). Ola also teased its upcoming Roadster motorcycle series, starting from ₹74,999 for the Roadster X.

Expanding infrastructure
Ola continues to invest in its EV hub in Tamil Nadu and the Bengaluru-based Battery Innovation Centre, focusing on battery and cell technology advancements. With over 750 experience centers and a robust online presence, Ola remains India’s largest EV network.
