Bollywood actors often have unique reactions to body hair. It was revealed by director Anurag Kashyap that he was removed from a film once, merely because he asked the main actor to grow hair on his chest. Meanwhile, fashion designer Manish Malhotra noted that Akshay was horrified by his suggestion to trim chest hair for a role.
During his appearance on We Are Yuvaa YouTube channel, Manish recalled how women were once used to be very concerned about their dressing, while the men were unbothered.
“I remember we were in Switzerland, we were shooting a song for Dhadkar, and I told Akshay Kumar to trim his chest hair because he was wearing a white shirt. And he was horrified. It was for ‘Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se’.” He added that his decision was supported by director Dharmesh Darshan.
While the designer did not share anymore details regarding Akshay and his chest hair, he shared another anecdote, where he was asked to dress the women “sexy” for the scene, where she is going to a funeral.
