Tom Cruise has a history of pushing the limits with his stunts, from climbing the Burj Khalifa to free-falling off a cliff. Now, he’s planning to cap off the Paris Olympics with yet another jaw-dropping feat.
It’s no surprise that Cruise is involved in a stunt for the Olympics—he’s known for his daring antics. According to TMZ, Cruise has already filmed some of the stunt for the ceremony. What’s the stunt? It sounds like something straight out of a Tom Cruise action scene: he’s set to rappel down from the top of Stade de France during the closing ceremony on August 11, landing on the field while carrying the Olympic flag.
But that’s not all. The TV broadcast will then show a pre-recorded segment where Cruise appears to fly from Paris to Los Angeles, and he’ll end the stunt by landing on top of the Hollywood sign, completing the sequence in classic Mission: Impossible style.

TMZ has also shared photos of Cruise on the Hollywood sign from March, which seemed mysterious at the time. Now it makes sense as part of his Olympic stunt. While there’s some speculation that Cruise might use a stunt double for the rappelling part, it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t take on the challenge himself, given his reputation for performing his own stunts.
Variety echoed this news, adding that Cruise might have been filmed riding a motorcycle through Paris with a large flag, then transferring it to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games. With Cruise turning 66 by the time of the LA Olympics, it’s easy to imagine he’ll still be thrilling audiences with his stunts and likely still appearing in Mission: Impossible films.
Who better to represent the Olympics and introduce the torch to the world’s entertainment capital than Tom Cruise?
