In 2023, WWE star Seth “Freakin’” Rollins filmed scenes for the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World. His appearance in the film was eagerly anticipated by wrestling fans, but there’s a chance that the final result might leave them disappointed.
Rollins, whose real name is Colby Lopez, has been a standout performer in WWE, winning the heavyweight championship and earning praise for his matches, including a notable performance at Wrestlemania this year. The Rock, another WWE superstar turned movie star, even complimented him on his performance.
Despite his success in the ring and appearances in five films, playing a villain in a Marvel movie is a different challenge. Although Marvel never officially revealed Rollins’ role, rumors suggested he was cast as King Cobra, a member of the villainous Serpent Society who goes up against Captain America, played by Anthony Mackie.
However, the film’s first trailer did not feature Rollins at all, which has raised concerns among fans. Reports indicate that the movie underwent significant reshoots, leading to the removal of the subplot involving the Serpent Society. This means Rollins might not appear in the film at all.
Wrestling fans might be feeling a mix of disbelief and frustration, especially since Rollins’ wife, WWE Superstar Becky Lynch, had her own post-credits scene cut from the MCU film Eternals in 2021.
While there’s still a slim chance Rollins could make a brief appearance, it seems increasingly unlikely. Meanwhile, Rollins is currently in a high-profile rivalry with Damian Priest over the heavyweight title, which could lead to a major rematch at SummerSlam.
