Sushant Singh Rajput case: Rhea Chakraborty states she bought marijuana for Sushant, arrested by NCB

Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on Tuesday by NCB on charges of allegedly arranging and financing consumption of marijuana by Sushant Singh Rajput.

After three days of probing , the Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday arrested Rhea Chakraborty on charges of arranging and financing consumption of marijuana by Sushant Singh Rajput, with the help of her brother, Showik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda and cook Dipesh Sawant.

In it’s remand application the NCB has mentioned Rhea as a part of an “active drug syndicate” who is in touch with drug suppliers. She has been sent to judicial custody by the magistrate, till 22nd September as the agency had asked for Rhea’s judicial custody itself.

Minutes after Rhea was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday, her legal advocate Satish Maneshinde criticised central agencies for harassing a woman “just because she was in love with a drug addict”. Maneshinde is likely to move session courts for bail on Wednesday. He has termed Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest as a ‘travesty of justice’. Rhea faces a minimum of 10 years of jail and maximum 20 years and a fine of ₹1 lakh.

Rhea has been booked under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act under section 8(c) that deals with possession and purchase, 20B(II) for possession, purchase and transportation, 27 for financing illegal traffic, 28 for attempt to commit offences and 29 for abetment and criminal conspiracy.
