Soon after the Supreme Court gave verdict on the Sushant Singh Rajput case on Wednesday, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya demanded for the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. He also expressed satisfaction regarding the verdict and hoped that the late actor’s family would get justice now.

Stating that the FIR registered in Patna by the late actor’s family was legitimate, the Supreme Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the case.

According to Times Now, Kirti Somaiya reacted to the same and tweeted, “Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh should resign. That Mumbai Police Commissioner did not register FIR in SSR case in two months is unfortunate, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family will now get justice,” (roughly translated in English from Marathi).

Earlier today, the single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy said that the Bihar Government was qualified to recommend transfer of the case to the CBI. The apex court also asked Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. The Maharashtra Police is also denied rights to challenge the order.

An FIR was registered in Patna on a complaint filed by KK Singh, Sushant’s father, against Rhea Chakraborty and five others under sections related to abetment to suicide. The bollywood actor was found dead at his Mumbai residence on 14 June ’20.
