According to a report by Reuters, Russia is likely to launch a social media platform, Rossgram on March 28. Rossgram is a replacement for Instagram which was widely used in Russia before the Ukraine war.
As Facebook’s Instagram has been blocked, the Russian techies are working on developing a replacement of Instagram. Rossgram will be having multiple features such as crowdfunding & some premium content, as per their official website.
“My partner Kirill Filimonov and our group of developers were already ready for this turn of events and decided not to miss the opportunity to create a Russian analogue of a popular social network beloved by our compatriots,” Alexander Zobov, public relations head at Rossgram wrote on the VKontakte social network. The logo & the design will slightly resemble Instagram.
As the West continues to impose sanctions on Russia, the Kremlin is planning to make itself less dependent on others. Earlier Russia had banned Facebook & launched a crimilanm investigation against Meta.
