Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot will quit all international flights, other than Belarus, from March 8, the TASS news agency quoted the firm as telling on Saturday, reported Reuters.
This appeared after Russia’s state aviation council approved that Russian airlines with foreign-leased aircraft cancel flights of passengers and cargo abroad from Russia from March 6 and from foreign nations to Russia beginning on March 8.
Meanwhile, the cease-fire to withdraw residents from two cities in Ukraine shortly fell apart today as Ukrainian officials said the work to wipe out civilians had halted amid shelling hours after Russia declared the pact.
The Russian defence ministry ahead announced it had agreed on evacuation ways with Ukrainian forces for Mariupol, a strategic port in the southeast, and the eastern city of Volnovakha. The vaguely stated announcement did not make clear how long the routes would continue to be open.
“The Russian side is not clasping to the cease-fire and has proceeded to fire on Mariupol itself and on its surrounding region,” announced Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office. “Talks with the Russian Federation are ongoing considering setting up a cease-fire and assuring a safe humanitarian corridor.” Russia breached the contract in Volnovakha as well, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk notified reporters. “We appeal to the Russian side to quit firing,” she announced.
Meanwhile, Russian outlet RIA Novosti held a Russian defence ministry request that the firing came from inside both neighbourhoods against Russian positions.
