After an earthquake was detected in Pakistan, vibrations were felt in Jammu & Kashmir, Noida, and other regions. The National Center of Seismology verified a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area. The quake struck at a depth of 181 kilometers around 9:45 a.m. IST.

The earthquake struck 45 kilometers southwest of Ashksham, Afghanistan, according to the US Geological Survey. According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, eyewitnesses in Pakistan reported jolts around 9:18 a.m. local time. It was not seismically validated and was based on automated crowdsourcing discovery.

“The shaking is often due to an earthquake -but occasionally it may have another cause, such as a sonic boom,” EMSC tweeted.
