Brittany Snow is opening up about how Hollywood treats women once they reach a certain age. During an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, the thirty nine year old actress said the industry often pushes women aside when it comes to sex scenes and stories about female sexuality.

She said Hollywood likes to act as if women over thirty two no longer have stories worth telling in this area. She explained that her new thriller series The Hunting Wives challenges that mindset. Snow said the show makes it clear that a woman’s confidence and sexuality do not disappear just because she is past what Hollywood considers a “young” age.

In the show Snow plays Sophie, a woman who moves from Chicago to a small town in Texas. She becomes drawn to a glamorous socialite named Margo, played by Malin Akerman. Their friendship quickly turns into a sexual relationship and pulls Sophie into a world filled with obsession, betrayal and murder.

Snow talked about filming intimate scenes with Akerman, who is forty seven. She said they both knew from the beginning that the show was going to portray powerful women in their thirties and forties. They were not trying to look like twenty year olds. They were creating something bold and meant for the female gaze. Snow said there was never any fear about whether it would be too much. They both signed up for it and are proud of what they created.

She later told Self magazine that working with Akerman made her feel respected and safe. Snow said that in many past sex scenes with men, the men focused more on themselves and how they looked. She said Akerman was completely different and was always checking in to make sure Snow felt comfortable.

The Hunting Wives became a big hit on Netflix. It earned more than five point two million views in its first week. Snow and Akerman announced in September that the show had been renewed for a second season. Akerman said the new season is expected to come out in summer twenty twenty six because Netflix wanted another summer release. The writers are already back to work to make that deadline.

Snow is staying busy as well. She is also appearing in the Hulu drama Murdaugh: Death in the Family and the Netflix series The Beast In Me.
