People still argue about who really got the last laugh in the long fight between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Biden beat Trump in 2020, but that win feels less meaningful now that Trump made his way back into power in 2024.
Even after that comeback, Trump still can’t let the rivalry die. He keeps saying Biden was confused and didn’t understand what he was signing in office. He’s also busy trying to undo almost every major thing Biden did. That includes Biden’s presidential pardons, which puts Hunter Biden directly in the line of fire.
Hunter is reportedly sober now, but life hasn’t been easy. ABC said back in March that he had no permanent home, was drowning in debt, and was constantly being attacked by Trump. Things don’t look much better today, and Trump is still determined to reverse the pardon that helped him.
But Hunter isn’t staying quiet. He went on the Republicans Against Trump podcast and let loose completely. He swore several times while talking about Trump and said Trump is obsessed with his dad because Biden beat him so badly in 2020. He reminded everyone that Biden won by over seven million votes and got more votes than any presidential candidate in U.S. history. Hunter said that’s why Trump can’t stop attacking his father.
Hunter kept going, saying Trump is trying to rewrite history and that all his talk about the “Biden crime family” is just nonsense and projection.
Now, to be fair, Hunter is not exactly the strongest person to make this argument. He has had serious legal trouble. He was convicted for a firearm issue, charged with filing false tax returns, and accused of using the Biden name to land deals in Ukraine, China, and Romania. His messy personal life also gave Republicans plenty of material to use against Biden while he was in office.
But compared to the Trump family, which has been tied to a massive amount of shady business and legal problems for years, Hunter’s point about Trump’s obsession doesn’t come out of nowhere.
Even so, it’s a bit ironic. Hunter is defending his dad fiercely, but he also knows that his own actions created a huge distraction during Biden’s presidency. His anger at Trump makes sense, but it doesn’t erase the fact that he added a lot of chaos to an already chaotic political era.
