Apple is quietly speeding up its plans for who will lead the company after Tim Cook. Cook is sixty five years old and has been running Apple since he took over from Steve Jobs in 2011. Reports say he might step down as soon as next year. The Financial Times shared that Apple’s board and top leaders have been spending a lot of time discussing how to make the transition smooth and stable.

The person most people expect to take Cook’s place is John Ternus. He is fifty years old and is Apple’s senior vice president in charge of hardware engineering. He looks after all the major products like the iPhone, Mac and iPad. He joined Apple more than twenty years ago and has played a big role in shaping its devices. When he joined the top executive team in 2021, many saw it as a clear sign that he could be next in line.

Tim Cook’s leadership has been incredibly successful. During his fourteen years as CEO, Apple became the world’s most valuable company. Because of this, the board wants the next change in leadership to be very steady and well planned.

There is no official timing yet. Apple is expected to keep things quiet until at least the first quarter earnings announcement in late January. That report includes results from the important Christmas shopping season. Until then, the company has not given any official response to the talk about its future CEO.
