The beloved Ice Age franchise is making a comeback with its sixth movie. Disney recently revealed the title and release date through a joint Instagram post with the official Ice Age page, confirming that production is underway. Fans have already started celebrating the announcement and the new poster that was released alongside it.

The sixth installment is titled Ice Age: Boiling Point and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 5, 2027. The announcement was made during the Destination D23 event in Orlando in August 2025. The release date is slightly later than an earlier report of December 2026, but fans are excited nonetheless.

Alongside the title, Disney released a first-look motion poster. The poster opens with serene snowflakes drifting across the screen, forming the words “Ice Age.” The scene then shifts dramatically with fiery sounds, revealing the second half of the title, “Boiling Point.” The post read:

“Ice Age: Boiling Point was just announced at Destination @disneyd23! Coming to theatres on February 5, 2027, the newest adventure takes the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World! #DestinationD23.”

As for the story, Disney says the main characters will journey to new areas of the prehistoric Lost World, first introduced in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Fans can expect plenty of comedy, drama, and action-packed adventure in this next chapter. Produced by 20th Century Animation, this marks the first theatrical Ice Age film since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and after Blue Sky Studios was closed.

It has been more than five years since the last film, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Fans are excited to see what new sides of Ellie, Sid, Diego, and the rest of the herd will be explored in Boiling Point. The movie is expected to blend nostalgia for long-time fans with fresh elements that will appeal to a new generation of viewers.
