Despite riding through a storm of controversy, Snow White star Rachel Zegler has secured her invitation to one of fashion’s biggest nights — the Met Gala.
Set for its grand return on the first Monday of May, the 2025 edition promises a glittering guest list — and for some, a brand new chapter on the red carpet. For Zegler, it’s a high-profile moment, as she faces ongoing backlash tied to the rocky release of her Snow White film with Gal Gadot. Critics recently piled on, blaming her outspoken political commentary (including posts targeting Donald Trump) for the movie’s less-than-fairytale box office performance.
Still, Zegler isn’t slowing down. The West Side Story and Hunger Games actress is gearing up for her next big move: headlining the upcoming musical Evita. Sources close to the actress revealed that she’ll kick off rehearsals in May, with filming set to unfold in London — meaning the Met Gala could be one of her last splashy public appearances before diving into her new role.
Joining Zegler on the Met steps will be a powerhouse lineup of stars: Lizzo, Shakira, Doechii, and Mary J. Blige are all expected to bring their A-game. Supermodels like Ashley Graham and rising runway stars like Amelia Gray are also confirmed for the evening.
This year’s Met Gala theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, promises an inspired, history-celebrating red carpet — with the official dress code simply titled Tailored for You.
NBA icon LeBron James will serve as the event’s honorary chair, while a cool squad of co-chairs — Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams — will help steer the night’s fashion energy.
Meanwhile, longtime Met Gala favorites Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are reportedly skipping this year’s event, amid their ongoing legal issues involving actor Justin Baldoni.
For Zegler, this will mark her third Met Gala appearance — she first dazzled in 2021 and returned last year in a sparkling Michael Kors number. All eyes will be on her to see whether she can shift the conversation back to her fashion prowess.
Other major names expected to light up the evening include André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Janelle Monáe, Spike Lee, Usher, Ayo Edebiri, Angel Reese, and many more.
One thing’s for sure: this year’s Met Gala is shaping up to be tailored, trailblazing — and definitely a night to remember.
