Burnap’s journey began at the prestigious Yale School of Drama, where he honed his craft before stepping into professional acting. He made his debut in the 2014 off-Broadway revival of King Lear, directed by Emmy and Tony winner John Lithgow. From there, he continued to rise, playing Troilus in Shakespeare in the Park’s Troilus and Cressida in 2016. His stage work also includes significant roles in the West End and Broadway productions of The Inheritance, a production that earned him widespread acclaim. Burnap’s exceptional talents were recognized with a Tony Award in 2021, solidifying his place in the theater world.
On-screen, Burnap has showcased his range with notable roles in both television and film. He appeared in WeCrashed, an Apple TV+ miniseries, alongside Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto. Burnap also starred opposite Andrew Garfield in Under the Banner of Heaven, an FX series, portraying Joseph Smith. His role as Father McElvoy in another Apple TV+ series, Dear Edward, further showcased his ability to work alongside heavy-hitting talent like Connie Britton and Colin O’Brien.
