Mark Hamill has some exciting roles on the horizon, but one he seems to truly desire isn’t quite the Hollywood blockbuster you might expect. Instead, it’s a whimsical wish that aligns more with the charm of penguins than lightsabers.
Hamill’s next venture is an animated film titled King of Kings, produced by the South Korean animation company Mofac Animation. This project isn’t a remake of the classic 1961 film but rather a unique take on the story of Jesus Christ, narrated through the eyes of a child and inspired by Charles Dickens. Interestingly, Hamill won’t be playing the lead role of Jesus; instead, he’ll voice King Herod, resembling a character reminiscent of Darth Vader in tone. The film also features notable Star Wars alumni, including Forest Whitaker as Peter and Oscar Isaac as Jesus.
In the realm of animated voice work, Hamill is no stranger. He’s famously known for his iconic portrayal of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which many fans regard as one of his best roles. However, Hamill seems to have his sights set on a different kind of gig lately: he expressed a strong desire to work with actual penguins after sharing a viral video of them being weighed. He tweeted, “I really, really want this job,” sparking laughter and interest from his followers.
On a more serious note, Hamill is also set to star in an upcoming horror movie based on Stephen King’s novel The Long Walk, originally published under King’s pseudonym, Richard Bachman. The story revolves around a dystopian contest where teenagers must walk a long distance without stopping, facing dire consequences if they do. It’s a stark contrast to his other projects and showcases Hamill’s willingness to tackle diverse and challenging roles as he continues to evolve in his acting career.
As he juggles various projects—from animated family films to horror stories—Hamill shows no signs of slowing down. He remains an enduring figure in the entertainment industry, eagerly exploring new avenues while occasionally entertaining fantasies of hanging out with penguins. Whether he’s navigating the world of animated characters or venturing into the realm of horror, Mark Hamill is clearly committed to keeping his career dynamic and engaging.
