Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter’s marriage lasted over two decades before they decided to part ways, but according to Williams, she would have preferred to end it much earlier due to persistent cheating rumors surrounding Hunter. Their union finally came to an end in 2019 when news emerged that Hunter had fathered a child with another woman. Despite their decision to forgo alimony, Hunter still believes Williams owes him money and has been vocal about demanding what he perceives as his due.

Their divorce proceedings in April 2019 were tumultuous, with Hunter initially seeking rehabilitative and permanent alimony, as well as legal fees and child support for their son, Kevin Hunter Jr. However, they eventually agreed to forego alimony, instead dividing the profits from the sale of their marital home and other assets. Williams also provided Hunter with a $250,000 check to assist with securing new living arrangements and acquired his stake in Wendy Williams Productions Inc. in exchange for a lump sum payment and severance agreement.

Despite the settlement, Hunter claims that Williams continued to make severance payments to him even after their divorce was finalized. However, these payments ceased when Williams was placed under guardianship in February 2022, leaving Hunter in a financial bind. In November 2022, Hunter sought relief in court, citing unpaid bills and financial hardship resulting from the halted payments. Although his claims were dismissed as non-emergent, Hunter persisted, filing another court motion in March 2024 to demand overdue severance pay, citing urgent financial need.

In response, Williams’ guardian, attorney Sabrina Morrissey, asserted that it was actually Hunter who owed Williams money, as stipulated in their settlement agreement. She argued that Williams had overpaid Hunter based on her yearly income and requested reimbursement for the excess payments. Additionally, Morrissey sought a gag order to prevent Hunter from discussing their financial matters publicly.

Both Williams and Hunter are facing financial challenges, with Williams’ net worth reportedly plummeting to $5 million, and she has no direct access to her funds due to financial guardianship. Williams herself has acknowledged her financial struggles, emphasizing that if it can happen to her, it could happen to anyone.
