WhatsApp not adhering to Indian IT laws, says Government in context of the new privacy policy

The center claims that WhatsApp’s new privacy policy violates Indian IT laws. Well, WhatsApp and Facebook have been asked to clear their stand on the claim.

In relation to the new privacy policy of WhatsApp that allows it to share some parts of users’ conversation with business accounts with the parent company Facebook, the Central Government, on Tuesday, told the High Court that WhatsApp, by introducing the new privacy policy is violating Indian IT law and rules.

Although, the new privacy policy was introduced by the social media intermediary in January. Since then, it has remained contentious.

WhatsApp is quite tenacious with its statement that it will encourage its users to accept the privacy policy rather than delete their accounts.

In addition to this, a notice has been issued to Whatsapp and the parent company Facebook demanding them to clear their stand on the claim that the updated privacy policy violates Indian IT laws.
