A worrying moment unfolded in the 32nd over of India’s chase during the 3rd ODI in Visakhapatnam, when South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock was struck painfully on his right hand, forcing an immediate halt in play.
The incident occurred on 31.4 overs, bowled by Keshav Maharaj. The delivery was tossed up outside off, and Yashasvi Jaiswal lunged forward to drive but completely missed the ball. With no edge detected on UltraEdge, the ball went straight through and jammed into the tip of de Kock’s fingers, leaving him in visible discomfort.
According to the live commentary:
“de Kock is hurt. He removes his right glove and he is in pain… hits the end of the fingers. Certainly painful for de Kock, who calls the physio out.”
De Kock immediately signalled for medical attention, removing his right glove as he grimaced in pain. The physio rushed onto the field, causing a brief stoppage in the match.
Despite the scare, de Kock continued wicketkeeping after treatment, but the blow clearly left him shaken for a moment.
