Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (AWHCL) announced that its material subsidiary, Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Private Limited, has secured two significant waste-to-energy (WTE) projects in Andhra Pradesh worth a combined ~₹3,200 crore. Awarded by the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd. (NREDCAP), each project will have a capacity of ~15 MW and will be located in Kadapa and Kurnool.
The projects have a construction period of about 24 months from the later of the concession agreement signing, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution, or land transfer. The 20-year concession period will see the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) purchase power at ₹8.10 per unit.
Each facility will feature an advanced Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to process mixed municipal solid waste (MSW) before energy conversion. Automated sorting will recover recyclables, extract organics for treatment, and prepare non-recyclable residues as feedstock for high-efficiency incineration units. The process will divert thousands of tonnes of waste from landfills daily, reduce methane and CO₂ emissions, and contribute to India’s renewable energy targets and Swachh Bharat Mission.
Once operational, these projects will expand Antony Waste’s clean energy portfolio to ~44 MW, strengthening its presence in Southern India. Chairman and Managing Director Jose Jacob said the award highlights the company’s technical expertise, execution capabilities, and commitment to sustainable waste management while advancing Andhra Pradesh’s green energy goals.
