Indian equity markets traded in positive territory at midday on April 17, but select heavyweight stocks from the Nifty 50 index remained under pressure. Despite gains in benchmark indices, a handful of stocks recorded notable declines during the session.

At 12:08 PM IST, the NIFTY 50 was trading at 24,262.95, up 66.20 points or 0.27%. The BSE Sensex stood at 78,224.29, higher by 235.61 points or 0.30%, while NIFTY Bank gained 154.95 points or 0.28% to 56,241.35.

Key Nifty 50 Losers

Among the laggards, HDFC Life Insurance emerged as the top loser, declining 2.8% to ₹613.8. The stock saw the sharpest drop among index constituents during the session.

Wipro followed closely, falling 2.7% to ₹204.7. The IT stock remained under pressure in midday trade.

HCL Technologies slipped 1.1% to ₹1,434.2, adding to weakness seen in the technology segment.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries declined 0.9% to ₹1,678.4, while Hindalco Industries dropped 0.8% to ₹1,031.7.

Other stocks trading in the red included Titan Company, down 0.7% at ₹4,431.0, and Bajaj Auto, which fell 0.6% to ₹9,768.0.

Eternal declined 0.5% to ₹251.4, while NTPC and Adani Enterprises also slipped 0.5% each, trading at ₹388.9 and ₹2,193.6 respectively.
