SJVN has achieved a major renewable energy milestone as its wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited has declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. The commissioning of this large-scale solar project marks a significant step in strengthening India’s clean power generation capacity.

Located in the Bikaner district, one of India’s highest solar irradiation zones, the 1,000 MW solar project is expected to generate around 2,454.55 million units of electricity in its first year of operations. Over its planned operating life of 25 years, cumulative power generation is estimated at approximately 56,838 million units, contributing meaningfully to long-term renewable energy supply.

The maximum usage charges for power from the Bikaner Solar Power Project have been fixed at ₹2.57 per unit, supporting the availability of affordable green electricity for consumers. This pricing aligns with India’s broader objective of lowering energy costs while transitioning to sustainable power sources.

Developed on nearly 5,000 acres of outright-purchased land near Village Banderwala in Bikaner district, the project has been executed at a total cost of ₹5,492 crore. The solar park has been implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, using domestically manufactured solar photovoltaic cells and modules. This approach supports the Government of India’s “Make in India” initiative while strengthening the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.

Beyond clean energy generation, the project is expected to deliver substantial environmental benefits. SJVN estimates that the Bikaner Solar Power Project will help reduce carbon emissions by around 27,85,077 tonnes, reinforcing India’s commitment to climate action and sustainable development.

The successful commissioning of this 1,000 MW solar project also contributes directly to the Government of India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
