Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna PSU with a strong presence across the oil and gas value chain, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of India’s top City Gas Distribution companies. The agreement, signed on 6th October 2025, aims to explore new opportunities in the LNG value chain and other emerging clean energy segments.
The MoU was formalised by senior executives from both organisations, including OIL’s Executive Director (Business Development) and MGL’s Vice President (Business Development, BIS, Commercial & STU), in the presence of OIL’s Director (Operations), Director (HR), and MGL’s Managing Director.
OIL is currently expanding its hydrocarbon exploration and production activities while also focusing on clean energy initiatives. MGL, which has already made progress in the LNG sector by operating retail LNG stations, continues to diversify into sustainable energy ventures.
Under this collaboration, both companies will jointly assess the technical and commercial potential of LNG in heavy-duty transportation and explore clean energy projects that can be scaled up commercially.
Commenting on the partnership, OIL’s Director (Operations) said the collaboration aims to bring feasible clean energy pilots to commercial reality. MGL’s Managing Director added that the initiative will help boost the use of cleaner fuels in long-haul transport and support the transition towards greener logistics solutions.
