Suzlon Energy Ltd on April 23 announced a significant order win from NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) for a 378 MW wind energy project, reinforcing its position as a leading player in India’s renewable energy space. With this latest project, Suzlon’s total order book with NGEL now stands at 1,544 MW.
As part of the contract, Suzlon will supply 120 units of its S144 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, equipped with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT). The project will be executed in the Gadag region of Karnataka. Suzlon will also undertake the foundation, erection, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance for the wind farm.
This marks the second major order from NGEL in under eight months, reflecting the strong and growing partnership between the two companies. NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC, has set an ambitious target to expand its renewable energy portfolio to 60 GW by 2032.
Commenting on the development, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of the Suzlon Group, said, “We are honored to be a strategic partner in NTPC’s clean energy mission. This collaboration reflects the critical role wind energy plays in accelerating India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.”
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, added, “Winning large-scale projects in the PSU sector validates our reliable technology and commitment to delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions. This partnership reaffirms our leadership in India’s green energy landscape.”
With this order, Suzlon continues to solidify its presence in the domestic wind power segment. The company currently manages approximately 15 GW of assets in India and has a global presence across 17 countries with a total installed capacity of 20.9 GW.
