Gensol Engineering Limited has successfully commissioned a ground-mounted solar power plant in Panchet, located in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. The project, developed under a ₹40 crore Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, reinforces the company’s expertise in managing solar installations in complex terrains.
Spread across 40 acres, the solar power facility is expected to generate more than 15 million units of clean electricity annually, targeted primarily for commercial consumption. In addition to commissioning the plant, Gensol will provide comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of five years.
The site posed notable engineering challenges due to its difficult topography that included loose soil, hard rock formations, and areas previously used for mining excavations. To navigate these complexities, Gensol implemented advanced Mounting Structure Systems (MMS) and deployed high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) modules to ensure optimal performance even on steep terrain.
The project is projected to offset approximately 21,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, contributing significantly to Jharkhand’s renewable energy targets. The plant also boosts the state’s energy security by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and supporting the growing demand for sustainable electricity.
With this new milestone, Gensol reaffirms its commitment to India’s broader net-zero emissions goals. The company has an existing portfolio of over 770 MW of solar projects and operates an advanced EV manufacturing unit in Pune, highlighting its dual focus on clean energy and electric mobility.
