Sonakshi Sinha recently opened up about her marriage to Zaheer Iqbal and addressed the rumors and speculation that surrounded their wedding.
The couple’s wedding came under public scrutiny, particularly because of her father, Shatrughan Sinha’s, comment and the absences of her brothers, Luv and Kush, at the wedding. These factors led to speculation that the family was not in support of their union.
During an interview with Hauterrfly, Sonakshi addressed the concerns, explaining that while her father was as supportive as he could be, she did not really talk about her brother’s absence. The actress also clarified that she was not at all pressurized from Zaheer’s family for converting to Islam.
“Zaheer and I weren’t really paying attention to religion. We are two people who love each other and want to get married to each other,” she explained. She added, “He didn’t enforce his religion on me, and I am not enforcing my religion on him. This wasn’t even a discussion.”
The actress continued over how they both respected each other’s cultures and participated in each other’s rituals.
While talking about the online speculation and negativity, the actress admitted onto muting comments on her and Zaheer’s Instagram to avoid unnecessary stress.
The couple tied the knot on June 23 last year after dating for nearly seven years.
