Preity Zinta may be away from films, but the actress still remains in limelight. She recently made it to the headlines for an unexpected reason. As per reports, Preity’s loan of Rs. 18 crore got written off by a bank. The New India Cooperative Bank Ltd recently came under the scanner of Reserve Bank of India for mismanagement of funds. Amidst this, the actor’s name and her alleged loam amount has grabbed attention. However, Preity has issued a clarification.

As per the reports by Times of India, Preity has denied all the accusations of loan of Rs. 18 crore being written-off. She issued a statement via her legal team and asserted that her bank account has been closed.

“More than 12 years ago, I had an overdraft facility with New India Cooperative Bank. More than 10 years ago, I fully repaid all the dues in respect of this overdraft facility and the account has been closed,” read her statement.

Meanwhile, Preity also addressed the reports on X. She clarified that the loan was paid in full back over 10 years.

The reports had suggested that the bank had sanctioned Rs. 25 crore worth loans without the knowledge of the bank manager. Many of these loans then allegedly turned into non-performing assets due to fund diversion. Many of these loans went on to become non-performing assets to fund diversion.

On the work front, Preity will be soon seen sharing screen space with Sunny Deol in Lahore 1947. The film will be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan.
