Paresh Rawal, who played the iconic character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in hit movie franchise Hera Pheri, recently shared his thoughts on the sequel and its upcoming third installment, Hera Pheri 3. The second part featured the original star cast of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal reprising their roles. While the movie was a box office hit, the veteran actor did not think that Phir Hera Pheri lived up to its expectations.

During a candid interview with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh said, “Everybody was overconfident about the film. It lost its innocence. Sorry to say, but woh film nahi bani thi bara bar (the film wasn’t that good).”

He explained that overstuffing the sequences made the film lose its originality. He continued that the first part was a special one because it was simple and in proportion. He asserted that people will laugh at anything, for instance they will laugh at someone running naked, but that person need not have to run naked.

When asked about his character Baburao, Paresh Rawal said he feels there was a lot more that could have been done with the role.

The OMG actor compared Hera Pheri sequel to Lage Raho Munna Bhai, a film he admires for its successful treatment of a beloved character. He added that the sequel should be more than just making money or changing jokes, and it should focus more on properly evolving the character.

Speaking of Hera Pheri 3, it has been confirmed that Kartik Aaryan will no longer be a part of the film. The actor also confirmed the rumors that the script has been changed and the film will feature the original cast of Hera Pheri.
