Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava has created waves at the box office, and has surpassed Uri: The Surgical Strike to become the highest grossing film for the actor. The movie, which witnessed a high opening week, has now crossed the Rs. 242.25 crore mark, according to early estimates.
The film performed exceptionally well in its first week, and has collected over Rs. 219.25 crore. It has maintained momentum into its second Friday, earning an estimated Rs. 23 crore, on par with its Monday collections. The historical epic saw an upward trend over its debut weekend, collecting Rs. 31 crore on February 14, followed by Rs. 37 crore on Saturday and Rs. 48.5 crore on Sunday.
Although, the film witnessed a minor drop on Monday, earning only Rs. 24 crore, it again witnessed a push on Tuesday collecting over Rs. 25.25 crore. On Wednesday, which marked the occasion on Shivaji Jayanti, the movie collected Rs. 32 crore.
The week ended on Thursday, and in one week, the movie has official overtaken Uri: The Surgical Strike, which earlier held the record for Vicky’s highest grossing film.
Speaking of Chhaava, the movie, which also features Rashmika Mandanna, shows Vicky playing the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of founder of Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, Akshaye Khanna is also featured playing the role of Aurangzeb.
