India, with 48th rank, remained the most innovative country in Central and Southern Asia followed by the Islamic Republic of Iran as New Delhi moved up four positions on the annual Global Innovation Index (GII).
India is also the third most innovative lower middle-income economy in the world, ranking in the top 15 in indicators like government online services, graduates in science and engineering, and R&D-intensive global companies.
