Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Government of India enterprise, has announced the receipt of a Letter of Acceptance from East Central Railway. The contract involves the modernization of electric traction systems, marking another milestone in RVNL’s contributions to India’s railway infrastructure development.
The scope of the project includes the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of traction substations with associated switching posts. The upgrade aims to enhance the electric traction system from 1X25 kV to a 2X25 kV Auto Transformer (AT) feeding system. This work will be carried out in the Gomoh–Patratu section of the Dhanbad Division, a critical railway zone under East Central Railway.
The total cost of the project is ₹186.77 crore, inclusive of applicable taxes. The execution timeline is set at 540 days, ensuring the completion of this essential modernization within an efficient timeframe. The project will significantly improve operational efficiency, reliability, and energy transmission capabilities in the targeted railway division.
