Producer Ektaa Kapoor has shared a powerful message in support of Akshay Kumar, defending his choice to headline multiple films annually as a vital contribution to the film industry’s survival. Following the box office success of their latest collaboration, the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, Kapoor took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a long note praising the actor’s work ethic and its role in maintaining the “commerce of our industry.”

Kapoor shared a nostalgic photograph of Akshay Kumar chatting with her father, veteran actor Jeetendra, noting that their shared discipline is what sets them apart. “The time has come for me to say my thank yous… This picture of Dad and Akshay Sir reminds me exactly of what discipline can do. They are so similar that every time I talk to Akshay Sir, I feel like I’m talking to my Dad… Their discipline & their belief in the producer’s conviction, along with deep trust and respect is just wonderful!” she began.

Directly addressing the recurring criticism regarding Kumar’s prolific output, Kapoor argued that the industry flourished because of “the Dharmendras, the Jeetendras, and the Akshays.” She explained that while occasional films with top directors sustain only one layer of the business, a thriving industry requires actors who work regularly. According to Kapoor, these men are the reason why producers—from top studios to mid-sized banners—continue to have agency and opportunities.

For an industry to thrive, you need actors who work regularly so that every producer gets a chance. The pure commerce these two men have brought is rarely appreciated,” she wrote. She emphasized that “in volume, there is job creation,” asserting that Kumar’s consistency ensures work for the entire filmmaking ecosystem.

Concluding her note by calling Kumar “Guruji,” Kapoor thanked him for his unwavering commitment to the producer’s vision, reinforcing that his frequency of work is not just a personal choice, but a necessary engine for Bollywood’s economic health.
