Travis Scott was released from custody on Saturday without charges after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard at a luxury hotel in Paris. The incident occurred on Friday and involved a physical altercation between the rapper, his bodyguard, and the hotel security guard. French hotel officials attempted to intervene but were unsuccessful.
Police arrived at the scene and detained Scott on assault charges. According to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office, “On August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper, known as Travis Scott, for assaulting a security guard.”
The statement continued, “The security guard had intervened to separate Scott from his bodyguard. The case has been referred to the 1st district of the judicial police.”
Scott was released the following day, with officials noting that the offense was not deemed too serious. Sources close to Scott reported that he was surrounded by fans and paparazzi as he was escorted out of the hotel after the incident.
Scott’s representative addressed the situation, stating, “We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate.”
One police official confirmed to the media that Scott was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. The official told The Daily Mail, “The suspect was drunk and had been involved in a fight with another man—possibly a hotel receptionist. He was not in a condition to be questioned immediately, so he was placed in a cell to sober up.”
Earlier this year, Scott was also arrested while intoxicated after an outburst on a yacht. His attorney described that incident as a misunderstanding.
